Privacy policy
This explains what information I keep, why, and how you can opt out or ask me to delete it.
Last updated 3 November 2026.
Who I am
I’m Henry Quinlan, a sole trader in the UK, trading as Accessible Stores. I decide how your information is used, so under UK data protection law I’m the “controller”.
You can contact me about anything in this policy at hello@accessiblestores.com.
This website
This website doesn’t use cookies, analytics or any tracking. It doesn’t load anything from other websites.
The company that hosts it, Netlify, keeps short-term technical logs (such as IP addresses) to run the service and protect it from attacks. I don’t use these logs to identify visitors.
If I’ve emailed your business
I find online stores and contact them about accessibility. To do this I keep:
- the store’s name and web address
- business contact email addresses published on the store’s own website, for example on its contact page or in its footer
- the country the store sells from
- the results of an automated accessibility test of the store’s public pages
- a record of the emails I’ve sent and any replies
I only use business addresses. I don’t buy email lists, and I don’t look for personal email addresses.
Why I’m allowed to do this: “legitimate interests”. I have a genuine business reason to tell stores about a service that could help them and their customers. I’ve balanced this against your interests: I only contact businesses, I keep emails short and relevant, I send only a small number, and every email tells you how to opt out.
If you become a client
I keep your name, contact details, store details, what we’ve agreed, invoices and our emails. To fix your theme I may need access to your Shopify admin as a collaborator or staff account. I use that access only for the work you’ve asked for, and you can remove it at any time.
Why I’m allowed to do this: to carry out our contract, and to keep the financial records the law requires.
How to opt out
Reply to any email with “unsubscribe”, or email hello@accessiblestores.com. I’ll stop straight away, and I won’t send any follow-ups.
To make sure I never contact you again, I keep your email address (or your store’s web address) on a “do not contact” list. That’s all I keep for this.
How long I keep information
- Outreach details: if we don’t end up working together, I delete them within 12 months of my last email to you.
- Do not contact list: for as long as I run the business, so that I can respect your opt-out.
- Client records: for as long as we work together, then the accounting records HMRC requires, which is usually about six years.
Who else sees it
I don’t sell or share your information. Some services I use to run the business handle it on my behalf:
- Google, for email
- Netlify, for hosting this website
- an accountant, for client invoices and tax records
Some of these companies may store information outside the UK, for example in the US. When they do, they use the legal safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK–US “data bridge” or standard contract terms.
Your rights
You can ask me to:
- tell you what information I hold about you and send you a copy
- correct anything that’s wrong
- delete your information
- stop using it, including for any marketing (I’ll always agree to this)
Email hello@accessiblestores.com with what you’d like me to do. I’ll reply within one working day, and finish within one month at the latest. It’s free.
How to ask me to delete your details
Email hello@accessiblestores.com with “Please delete my details” and the store or email address it’s about. I’ll delete everything except what the law says I must keep (such as invoices) and the entry on my “do not contact” list, then email you to confirm.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please tell me first and I’ll try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
If I change this policy, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
